Vizor Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 22, 2025

1. Introduction

Vizor is a Chrome extension developed by Akrasia Labs that helps you stay focused by filtering out online content that does not align with your stated long‑term goals. Protecting your privacy is central to our mission. This policy explains what data the extension stores or transmits and how that data is used.

2. Data We Collect & Store Locally

  • Extension Settings – Your OpenRouter API key, global goals, and per‑site preferences (e.g. probability cut‑off) are saved in chrome.storage.sync so they stay in sync across any Chrome profile where you are signed in.
  • Temporary Analysis Results – The probability score the extension receives after sending a content snippet to OpenRouter is kept only in memory for the current tab and session. It is notwritten to disk or synced.
  • Vizor does not copy, log, or transmit your browsing history, clipboard, passwords, or any other personal data.

3. What Leaves Your Browser

When Vizor evaluates a YouTube video or social‑media post, it sends a short prompt containing:

  • The content title (or text) and the author/channel name.
  • The goals you provided (e.g. “Learn advanced TypeScript”).

The prompt is transmitted only to the OpenRouterAPI for real‑time scoring. No additional identifiers—such as your Google account, cookies, IP address beyond standard HTTPS routing, or full page content—are shared by Vizor.

4. How We Use the Data

Data is used exclusively for these purposes:

  • Storing your settings so the extension behaves according to your goals.
  • Requesting probability scores from OpenRouter to decide whether to hide or show content.
  • Debug logging (console) inside your browser for development and troubleshooting; these logs stay on your device.

We do not sell or share any user data with advertisers or analytics providers.

5. Data Security

All communication with OpenRouter uses industry‑standard TLS encryption. Your API key is stored using Chrome’s storage.sync mechanism, which encrypts data in transit and at rest on Google’s servers. If you wish to remove your key, you can do so from the Vizor settings popup at any time.

6. Third‑Party Services

Vizor relies on the OpenRouter API, which in turn routes requests to large‑language‑model providers. Their processing of the prompt is governed by their own privacy policies. No other third‑party analytics, trackers, or cookies are injected by Vizor.

7. Your Choices & Rights

  • Disable or remove the extension at any time from chrome://extensions.
  • Delete your stored settings via the “Save Settings” page (clear key & goals, then save) or via Chrome’s “Clear Data”.
  • Opt‑out of all filtering by toggling each platform off in the popup UI.

8. Children’s Privacy

Vizor is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from them.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and include the new policy in the next extension release. Material changes will also be announced in the Chrome Web Store listing.
